M2's First Week in Italia
What was your favorite part of this week? Being able to travel to different parts of Europe with M! We went to Liverpool, London, Venice, and Florence.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Communicating with the youngest children in my host family. However, it is also the most rewarding! I teach them English and in return they teach me Italian.
Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week. When I gave a makeover to the girls in my family. I did their makeup and curled their hair before they went out to a nice dinner. They LOVED the transformation and thanked me profusely! It was a fun activity and overall a great bonding experience.
Tell us about your week! I recently completed my first full week here in Italy. Ever since I stepped off the plane life has been busy as ever, however I love this country already! My favorite moments have been having dinner as a family each night. My host family home cooks almost every meal and the food here has exceeded all my expectations! (Creamy pesto pasta is my favorite.)
The kids and I have already connected really well. I feel like they have adopted me into their family as their older sister. They love playing at the neighborhood pool, riding bikes to get gelato at night and playing with me. We have created a game where I point to something and they have to tell me what it is in English, then they point to something and I have to say whatever it is in Italian. It helps us practice our language skills as well as keeps us laughing!
Luckily, my family is very active and always doing something. This makes each day very different and fun! I connect to each of the children in a unique and special way. They are so quick to give me a hug as soon as I wake up and don't want to go to sleep at night because we are usually watching a movie together, playing games, or sharing stories. I love this family already and don't know how I am going to ever leave them and Italy! Ciao!
