Reuniting With Parents for Final Travels: S's Last Days in Italia
What was your favorite part of this week?
Meeting up with my mom for the last ten days and seeing her again after so long away and little communication.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Saying goodbye to my host family.
Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week. The last few days with my host family I spent entirely with them. Helping, teaching, and soaking up the final days there.
Tell us about your week! This entire experience has been a roller coaster of wonderful sights and nice days with my host family to some sad days missing home and difficult interactions. I have learned so much from my short time here and the way I view the world will never be the same. I've been taught so many things and my appreciation for the way people differ from the other but can instantly be so compassionate to another person they know nothing about is something I would have never fully understood without committing to this experience.
I will deeply miss my host family and everything they offered me, shared with me, and taught me. I can only hope that I gave them as much as they gave me. This has been something that I hope I can use to better myself and hopefully something I can use to apply to my future.
It's been absolutely amazing seeing the old streets, the old buildings, and even the old ways of life lingering here. I'll never forget what I've seen or done in this place. I don't want to overlap the good with the bad because some of the days here were hard. I missed home more than I thought I would, but when I'm home I think I'll end up missing Rome more than I currently think I will.
From the bottom of my heart I want to thank everyone that helped me along with my time here and everyone that felt strongly enough to offer a piece of themselves to me. It's been completely world opening and life changing. Again, thank you.
