M2’s Pirate Party Planning
What were you grateful for this week? Pirates!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Having some anxiety.
Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week. Making pirate hats with [my host mom] for [the older son’s] birthday party.
Tell us about your week! This week wasn't too exciting or out of the ordinary. I decided to stay in Milan, just because traveling seemed like too much of a hassle and both C and I were feeling a bit anxious and exhausted. [The oldest son’s] birthday is coming up in two days, so this upcoming weekend is solely dedicated to the celebration of him surviving four years of his little life. And seeing as he is completely obsessed with Pirates, and [my host mom] is completely obsessed with planning parties (thank goodness, a person that appreciates a well thought out celebration is MY KIND OF PERSON), it has been quite the preparation process.
There will be multiple different kinds of cakes, multiple different kinds of foods, decorations, screaming children, and adults pretending not to be worried that there's going to be some kind of disaster. I'm lucky enough to be hosted by a really lenient family that understands how hard it is to be out here on my own. Which isn't completely true, because my best friend is only about an hour away by train, but that means that we don't get to see each other during the week, which is something we aren't used to and is kind of hard sometimes. But, we are able to have each other over for sleepovers sometimes, and it's the greatest gift in the world. So C and I were able to spend all of Saturday and Sunday SHOPPING. It's going to start getting cold, and it's been a really long time since we've lived in a country that gets anything even close to a proper winter. So we start preparing for the cold that is coming, and there is nothing better than retail therapy.
