🏊🏼‍♀️Lago di Como: M2’s Week

What were you grateful for this week? Quiet places.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? train delays and missing connections grrrrrr!

Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week. Kept persistent with the girls on helping and motivating them to finish their homework ... we did it!!

Tell us about your week!  The weeks are going by so fast! It’s only just a couple of weeks until I’m gone. I don’t want to think about that too much because I simply don’t want to leave! This first part of this week was spent in Circeo. It was a bit quieter because extended family left and for a day it was just the girls and me. We had full days of swimming, coloring, movies, and last minute catch up on summer homework. I then left on Thursday for a long weekend in Lake Como with a dear friend of mine from Germany. WOW! What an incredible place. It is the second largest lake in Italy, and nothing short of stunning. The piercing gray-bluish water set next to cliffs of terra-cotta roofs had me drooling all weekend. Also, it was a bit rainy, which some might say ruined their stay—but for me it couldn’t have made the mood more perfect. We stayed in a small mountainside town above Varenna. There were hardly any tourists, or people for that matter. On our first walk to the market we passed a man who instantly greeted us, asked where we were from and starting chatting with us. Throughout the weekend it seemed like we stumbled upon the most secluded and untouched places. We took a walk that led us to a castle with a view of the entire lake. On this same walk we passed a beautiful river through the forest, and harvested some wild figs—which are my new favorite fruit, by the way. Other highlights of the weekend were taking the ferry to different towns on Como, seeing incredible villas, cooking meals together, and watching the rain fall on the lake from our patio. I didn’t want to leave! Next to the Dolomites, this has been my favorite place I’ve been in Italy thus far. Wish I were still there....! Just going to dream of Lago di Como until I can go back....
