🌊Australia Day in Brisbane: M’s Week

What were you grateful for this week? Public transportation.

What was the most challenging part of this week? Learning how to get around on public transit.

Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week.  Putting the girls to bed and I was able to teach them some words in Spanish.

Tell us about your week! This week was the first full week that I had the girls and they were still on summer holiday so I was able to spend a lot of time with them. We walked to the shops to get dinner one night, we took the train to South Bank (a man-made beach in the middle of Brisbane city) to swim. The next day we took the train back to South Bank to go to the movies and we watched Instant Family and had popcorn. I loved seeing the girls get so excited for the movie and watch them laugh and enjoy the movie, after the movie the girls also tried Dr Pepper (my favorite drink) for the first time and they loved it; it was fun to show them something new.

Saturday the 28th was Australia Day 🇦🇺 so we swam for the first half of the day and then once again took the train to South Bank to get ice cream and then walked over to the beach to watch the fireworks and make each other into sand mermaids. I loved taking the girls to do fun activities and seeing their adventurous side.

My host family has dogs and I was able to take them for walks around and found a great view of the city from a hilltop. I have been getting a long really well so far with my host dad and am looking forward to the friendship we will build during my time here.
