Ready for Her Next Adventure: M’s Last Week in Rome 😭
What were you grateful for this week? * The friends I've made here <3 What was the most challenging part of this week? Trying to adapt to a constantly-changing schedule.
Tell us about a "wow" moment you had this week. I stayed home Sunday night with my host child so my host parents could go to a dinner with their friends.
Tell us about your week! This was my last full week in Rome! I can't believe it, in some ways it feels like I just got here, and in others it feels like I've been here so much longer than only 3 months. It's been a good week though. For one, I finally made it INTO the Colosseum. It only took three months and four separate attempts, but I made it! I can finally say that my Roman experience is complete. :) This weekend gave me a much-needed break from the constant on-the-go schedule I've had the past few weeks. A couple other Travelers in Rome - minus one, who we said goodbye to earlier this week :'( - went to Santa Marinella, a beach close to Rome on Saturday. We played cards, sat in the sunshine, and enjoyed the water. It was nice to relax. On Sunday we had a sort of final tour of the city. We climbed Aventine Hill to look through the keyhole at St Peter's Basilica, wandered through Rome, and ended up at the park next to where I live where we hung out until parting ways for the last time. It was definitely a bittersweet goodbye, but I'm grateful we're all from the same state, so I'm excited to see them again in the U.S. I've had a lot of time to appreciate where I've been this week, and I'm so grateful I got this opportunity to come. Thinking about who I was when I first came versus who I am now feels so different. I know I've learned a lot: about myself, about traveling, and about people around me. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything. Now I'm ready for my next adventure. :)
