What was your favorite part of this week?
My favorite part of this week was the ability to walk around Milan every morning and see the historic city and several of the tourist sites.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
I was tired pretty early in the day and it took a few days to understand my new role within the family.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. (A “wow” moment is when you went the extra mile to do something nice for your host family.)
I gave them some presents I brought from the States.
Tell us about your week!
My first week in Milan, Italy has been nothing short of incredible. I have seen so many of the historic sites and have still so many more to go. My family took me to Lake Como and we took a boat around to a few different ports. It was one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen and I was told movies stars like, George Clooney, own homes there. Every morning I wake up, play with the kids a little and then walk around Milan for a couple hours. It is a great way to get to know the city and find fun little places you can make your own. I have tried the metro system and I promptly got a little lost but it was easy to find my way back home and the public transportation is extremely clean. Eliana and Max are so kind and welcoming to me. They help me find my way around town and are constantly making me Italian food. Everything I have eaten tastes amazing. Today I ate horse meat and it was great! I have learned a lot about Italian eating manners. I still don’t know much of the Italian language but everyone tries their best to communicate with me. Overall it was a very good week. I just really hope I can stay awake past 10pm next week.
