What was your favorite part of this week?

This week my favorite part was traveling to Prague! Prague was not in my travel plans but ended up being cheap and a great weekend trip! The city was magical!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? This week the most challenging part was being homesick. It’s a real thing, when you’re away from family and your home you miss it. You miss the “way” you do things rather than the “way” Italians do it. I have enjoyed so much learning from my family but I have to say this week I miss home!

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.”Wow” moments are always hard for me to identify but this week I stayed up with the host mom with her twins because her husband is gone for the week. She needs help with their feeding at 12am and although I’m “off work” I get up and help her with the feeding!

Tell us about your week! This week has been a lot of fun! I finished up touring Rome, went to Prague, and met the family at their sea house. It has been filled with excitement! Rome, like I said in my last post, is just wonderful! All the history is so fascinating! To finish out my time in Rome I went to the Colosseum and ate at my host family’s favorite pizza place! I have to say it was one of my favorite evenings in Rome!

My weekend came early this week and I got to travel to Prague for Thursday- Saturday! It was a short time in Prague and A LOT of traveling but SO worth it! The people in Prague were so nice, even though few spoke English. The first night I was in awe at how beautiful the city was! I went for a walk and came upon a place that served an authentic meal in Prague! It was a pork chop, potato dumplings, and gravy. It was very different flavored than American food but delicious! The men that were working at the restaurant gave me the “best” places to see in Prague. One of the men suggested a park, which ended up being one of the best views I saw of the city!

Day two I experienced Prague for 13 hours straight because I knew it was the only chance I would get to see everything! Some of my favorite things I saw were the astronomical clock, the Prague castle, the John Lennon Wall, and the dancing house (from the roof). Prague really blew me away with the charm that the whole city holds! I already can’t wait to go back!

On day 3 of my weekend I traveled from Prague to the sea house in Foggiamare (southern Italy). I traveled for approximately 12 hours by the time I made it! It was such a long day but so nice to be back “home” with the host family. Foggiamare is a beautiful village with a nice community.

There are lots of kids playing together all the time and it’s just a happy place for everyone that is here! Every morning we go to the beach and play then rest in the afternoon! It really is a perfect working “vacation.” I’m so grateful I am here in Italy and learning so much about the culture and myself. I am excited to see what this next week holds for me!
