What was your favorite part of this week? Going to the Amalfi Coast and Capri.
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?It was really, really hot haha.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I bought them flowers to say thank you for everything they had done for me!
Tell us about your week!I can’t believe last week was my last week living in Rome! It was definitely bittersweet! I was sooo excited to meet up with my parents last Friday, but It was so sad saying good bye to my host family 🙁 this summer has been AMAZING to say the least! It has been such an unreal experience! I have loved exploring Italy and learning about its culture and history! Italy is such an amazing country!
My host family was wonderful, they took such good care of me and really made me feel at home! Not only that but it was like I had my own local tour guides 🙂 they told me about all the must-sees and even showed me some of their hidden gems that most tourists don’t know about!
It is really cool living in another country rather than just going for holiday because you get to do so much more and get learn so much more about the country!
I loved having the weekends off too! Every weekend I would meet up with my sisters in a new city! We went to Florence, Rome, Venice, the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, and Capri! We learned so much about all the history and beautiful architecture and art, and we got to see all the major attractions! I loved swimming in the crystal clear water, and trying all the amazing Italian food and gelato (the fruit here is seriously the best I have every had)! Not only that but the night life here is always a good time, and we got to meet all kinds of new people who were also traveling through Italy!
During my last week we spent everyday at the beach because the temperature was in the one hundreds everyday! My host mom said it was the hottest week they have had all summer! It was really nice to cool off at the beach! One night we stayed for dinner and watched the sunset on the beach! It was beautiful 🙂
On Friday morning I thanked my family a million times for everything they had done for me, and had to say good-bye 🙁 I met up with my parents and sisters at 1, we grabbed lunch and then went to the Vatican City with a tour group 🙂 it was really cool!
The next morning we took a train to the Amalfi Coast! We got to our hotel in Sorrento around two o’clock dropped off our stuff and headed to the beach! The water was so clear and blue and was the perfect temperature! After a perfect day by the sea, we headed back and got ready for dinner! After dinner we walked around the beautiful city! The next day we headed to Capri! We had an amazing boat tour that took around the island and to the Blue Grotto! It was BEAUTIFUL, I thought I was in a dream haha! The water was so blue and clear and the city of Capri was so charming!
We walked around and stopped in some shops until we made our way up to the top where we saw the most amazing view ever while enjoying a lemon slushy! That night we went to dinner over looking the beach and had a perfect view of an amazing firework show! The day we had a driver take us all around the Amalfi coast! We stopped at a lot of the cutest little towns to explore and swim, including Positano and Amalfi 🙂 it was incredible, seriously everything was unreal! That night we had dinner on the sea at dusk! It was the best location!
The next day we visited Greek ruins in Herculaneum and after chilled at by the pool! Last night was our last night in Sorrento:( We went to another delicious restaurant, walked around the city with gelato, and ended the night checking out a few of the bars and clubs! This morning we packed our bags and headed to Pompeii! We had a private tour guide who told us about all the history! It was so cool to learn about and walk around such an amazing city! Right now we are on the train headed back to Rome for one more night and then I am off to Spain in the morning for more adventures!!
I can’t think of any other way I would have wanted to spend this summer, it was definitely one for the books and I highly recommend Rome Abroad! Thanks for everything Rome Abroad!
