What was your favorite part of this week?

My favorite part of the week was going to Venice with my host family. It was a really nice get away.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?

The most difficult part of my week was again the language barrier. I’m really trying to learn Italian, but it’s a lot harder then it sounds.

Tell us about your week!

My week was amazing! I’m really loving living like a true Italian. I think my favorite part of the day is having family dinners together with my host family. I used to have family dinners every night growing up, so it makes me feel like I’m back home again. I really enjoy talking to my host mom about my social life and just really bonding with her. We’ve developed a great relationship over these past couple months.

This week was great but my favorite part of my week was going to Venice with my host family for the weekend. We stayed in this really cute Airb&b right in the center of Venice. I am so grateful that I have such an amazing host family who likes to take fun vacations just so I can see more of Italy. Venice was so cute. I loved that there wasn’t any cars in the whole city, only boats. They even had a water taxi (which was obviously a boat), but they treat it just like an actual land taxi.

I got to cross some things off my bucket list like taking a ride in a gondola and just going to Venice. But the gondola ride was by far one of the best things I’ve ever done. Venice in all was like a dream. When someone says “Italy” somewhere like Venice is what I always pictured and it did not disappoint. The night life was great, food was amazing and getting lost in the town was so much fun!

I’m still loving it here in Italy. I don’t ever want to go home. In fact if I could give advice to future Au pairs it would be, stay longer then you’ll think you’re going to want to. Get your visa! I promise you won’t regret it! (:
