What was your favorite part of this week?
My favorite part of this week was going to Rome with my host mom! We’re having so much fun seeing the sights!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?My biggest challenge this week was dealing with banking issues in a foreign country. It was very frustrating not being able to accomplish a simple task due to a language barrier. With some serious time and patience-we got to the end goal, but it was difficult for me to stay calm through the frustration.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.Just doing things like sweeping every morning, loading, and unloading the dishwasher whenever it was ready to go, and vacuuming.
Tell us about your week!I can’t believe another week has gone by! This week my host family and I had some fun with English homework. The 3 kids are in school and I all took turns sitting down during the week to work through some of their English homework. It was challenging at some points to think in such a precise way–language is funny that way. Once you are fluent, little rules and things become non-existent because it is so natural. When you actually have to pinpoint a reason for something, or explain a very precise word choice, it takes a second to think it through!
The week flew by in our day-to-day routine and on Friday evening, I took an overnight bus to Rome! Rome: I recommend. An overnight bus: not so much! However, I got off the bus at 5:30 in the morning and immediately started checking things off my list! We (A and I) have had a lot of fun seeing the city that she lived in for a long time. It is so crazy hot here! It’s hot everywhere in Italy, but WOW–it really motivates you to wake up as early as you can manage, just to get a jump start on your day before it’s blazing (which by the way is by like 9:30/10:00). I think my favorite part has been the Trevi Fountain. I just instantly fell in love with it. This evening we are going to the seaside so maybe that will take the #1 spot!
