What are you grateful for this week? Grateful that K2 and I could show L (au pairing in Switzerland) around to some of our favorite places this weekend! What was the most challenging or difficult part of this week?
The most challenging part of this week was getting out of the house. K2 and I had a scare last weekend when we were in Napoli (we were targeted for pickpocketing).Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
A “wow” moment I had this week was cooking dinner for the family multiple times.

Tell us about your week!
This week, K2 had one of her friends from the US (staying in Switzerland) come and visit her! It was a lot of fun exploring Italy with her and we all had such a great time!
On Thursday we went to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, and Giolitti (tip: try their gnutella, raspberry, nocciola, and coconut).
On Friday we went to see St. Peter’s through the Palantine key hole. We also walked around the gardens, which had a beautiful panoramic view of the city. I’m so glad we live in Rome!!! Afterwards, we went to the beach and had the most wonderful time. We stopped by a grocery store beforehand and bought grapes, baguettes, cheeses, tomatoes, and chocolate to eat by the seaside. And then we swam and collected sea glass and shells of course.
K2 and I have learned that the people here in Italy *REALLY* are not a fan of the cold, so when we tell them we went swimming, or if we walk out of the house without a jacket, it’s a bit of a shock to them. We think it’s funny, because compared to where we live, it isn’t even that cold.
Saturday night, we celebrated L’s stay with Carbonara, butter and sage Ravioli, and some of the best spaghetti and meatballs I’ve ever had in my entire life. And then we got gelato (of course). K2 and I said goodbye to L early Sunday morning, then we were able to make it to church. We’ll miss her for sure!
