What were you grateful for this week? To be able to live in such an awesome place!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week? Getting used to the culture of Italy and the time difference has been the most challenging since I got here last week.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. My host family is in between housekeepers right now so I’ve been helping my host mom with some extra cleaning around the house.

Tell us about your week! This week has been crazy! Getting to Italy was a journey and once I arrived I was so jet lagged the first few days are a blur. My host mom picked me up from the train station and took me to her apartment. It’s a very modern Italian home and just what I imagined it to be. She had to get back to work that day so I immediately started spending time with [my host family’s daughter]. She’s a dream.

The adjustment to Italy has been harder than I thought. The time difference is what seems to be the most difficult for me. When I wake up in the mornings everyone back home is still asleep and it makes me miss them even more. I am lucky enough to have a good friend in the program though and spending time with her has helped. My best friend back home has been traveling through Europe and she was able to stop in Milan for a few days and that’s also helped me settle in a bit.

I’ve planned quite a few weekend trips already and it’s made me so excited for the next three months. Im looking forward to getting to know my host family a little bit more and exploring Milan as much as I can. I’m so grateful for this amazing opportunity.
