What were you grateful for this week?Italian food being so vegetarian-friendly!
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?The family’s washer has not been working for the past two weeks so I have had to wear the same clothes.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I helped [my host mom] with her English Phonetics on Sunday and went over some flash cards with her.
Tell us about your week! This week was pretty chill, I didn’t do too much and chose not to go out this weekend. I wanted to be able to have enough money for my upcoming trips, so I thought it’d be best just to stay in and relax. For the most part I had a pretty normal week. I am making more friends in my class, which is nice. I am also having more conversations in Italian. And when I go out I am less hesitant to speak Italian. Everyone in this area is so nice and has been patient with my Italian, so it hasn’t been too bad.
On Saturday I went to what was basically an Italian Toys R Us (rip) with my family. [My host family’s daughter] was getting ideas of what kind of toys she wanted to ask from Santa for Christmas. I never got to do anything like that with my family, so I thought it was extremely cute.
I spent most of Sunday at home relaxing with my host family. I woke up and went out on our porch to watch a parade of tractors go down our street. I don’t really know what the significance of it was, but it was still an interesting experience.
I am really starting to feel like I am part of the family. I am also falling in love with the family’s cats. They’re so cute!!! It’s crazy to think that I am going to be going home next month! Time has gone by so quickly and I don’t want it to end! I definitely feel like three months is not enough time for me. But due to this experience, I know I’ll be back visiting Europe soon!
