S’s Roman Weekend

What were you grateful for this week?this week was grateful for the nanny! I had the kids all week on my own so her help was awesome and much needed.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?the hardest part of the week was having the kids to myself. for the most part they were pretty good but the little boy was pretty hard to control sometimes.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I guess the biggest wow moment for the week was keeping the kids from killing each other and being able to handle them on my own.

Tell us about your week!so the week itself was not really any different than the others besides my host parents were both out of town at the same time. I was in all week with the kids doing the usual. we did homework, I took them to their english classes, basketball and dance. sometimes the kids would fight in italian, and I knew what they were saying. so I learned I actually understand more than I thought I did.

oh I also learned how crazy romans are when it gets “cold” I kid you not it’s 70° during the day and they are bundled up like we utahans would be when it’s like 40°. they probably think I’m crazy cause I’m just chillin in my t-shirt, the low is no less than 55° and I’m still okay without even a sweater. I’m so i love with the winter weather here. we did spend one afternoon making snowflakes though! and if you didn’t already know, that’s the closest thing to snow you’ll get in rome for the most part. I absolutely hate snow so I love the idea of paper snowflakes instead.

Anyway as for the weekend, I finally went on top of the altar of the fatherland, I pass it nearly everyday but never thought to go inside or on top, it was seriously the most beautiful thing in rome and the view was amazing. as for the night, we went out and partied til 4 am as always. this is seriously the most going out i ever do considering there’s not a party night life in utah…lol i’m really going to miss it. like i’m never bored… ever. on sunday though we just kept it chill.we went and sat at the spanish steps for a solid 2 hours painting, walked through the shops and to piazza del popolo. we also had cotton candy from a street vendor, italian cotton candy is weird but it was good. sunday was nice, relaxing and much needed.
