What were you grateful for this week?Milan!!

What was the most challenging part of this week?Missing the bus to come home.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week. I feel like I really bonded with my host family this week, and that was a blessing!

Tell us about your week! This week was long and eventful! My week started out pretty chill. Not a lot going on! Mid week I visited the Duomo (again) but this time I was able to go up to the roof. It was INCREDIBLE. The architecture is so beautiful and no picture could ever do it justice. I was also able to meet some new friends that are studying here, so that was super fun!

I also met another au pair at the school where I pick up my host brother. She’s from Germany and so nice! It’s been so cool to meet new people from around the world.

This weekend I was able to go back to Rome with a couple people from Rome Abroad. We took and overnight bus Friday night to get there, and it’s 10x more exhausting than it sounds, trust me. Definitely an experience though! Not getting much sleep on the bus, we arrived in Rome at 7:45 am and started our adventure in Rome! We saw lots of different things and I was able to go back to some things I had already seen, but it was cool to go back and learn new things and share what I already knew! At the end of the day on Saturday, when I checked my steps for the day, I was at 37,000 and I had climbed 40 floors. Saying I was tired is an understatement! I stayed at my first hostel, and it was different than what I had imagined. Better than what I imagined though! We also had the opportunity to see the Rome LDS (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) temple, but only from the outside. It was worth it!

Sunday we tried to keep it more low key. We went to Il Buco della Serratura which is a key hole with the most amazing view St. Peter’s basilica! I think it was the highlight of my trip for sure.

On our way home (yet another overnight bus) we were a bit late to the bus station, so missed our bus. We ended up getting back to Milan 3 hours later than we hoped and we had to buy new tickets. Kind of a mess, but also an adventure! This trip made me appreciate Milan more and it made Milan feel like home, which is nice. Looking forward to more adventures!
