What were you grateful for this week?Italian food.

What was the most challenging part of this week?Following a (digital) map.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.I came in early to help with English homework before they left on their trip.

Tell us about your week! This weekend I’ve been to Parma, Reggio Emilia, and Bologna. Parma, one of the towns that produces Parmesan cheese, was very very interesting. It’s a very historical city, with a lot of beautiful art and architecture. The first place I visited in Parma was a museum that focused mainly on the life of Maria Luisa, who was Napolean’s wife. It was really interesting to see some of the things in the museum, like letters written between Napolean and his wife, between her and other relatives, and a drawing that their son sent to Napolean. Their family was seperated when Napolean was sent into exile.

Another interesting place in Parma was the Art Gallery, which was in an old theater. There were a few works from different time periods, and the theater itself was very interesting.Outside of the official museums, the town itself was like a big historic museum of art and architecture. Many of the churches have beautiful painted murals and ceilings by il Correggio, a Rennaissance painter from Parma.

Next I visited Reggio Emilia, which is famous for being the place where the Italian flag was officially adapted.

Then I continued on to Bologna, where I was able to climb to the top of the Torre degli Asinelli and see the city from above.
