Tell us about your week!
This weekend my host family took me to Courmayeur. We woke up early on Saturday morning and skied all together until the boys and my host mom went to their lessons. Then my host dad showed me all the runs on the mountain. He is a very fast skier so the whole time I felt like I was dodging the other skiers on the mountain, trying not to kill someone or myself. It was a much larger resort than what I am used to and I got lost a few times.
On Sunday we woke up and did it all again. By the end of the day my legs were shaky and I felt like I would never me warm again. When we got back to the condo me and the youngest crashed and took a nap. It was a great chance to get to know the family I’ll be staying with for the next 3 months better. On the lift rides up, I asked my host dad how he met his wife, what other activities the family enjoyed, and when he learned to ski. After being in a city, for the first time in my life it was refreshing when we got to where I could see mountains again.
While we were there we ate at a restaurant with really good tomato pasta, and for dessert I tried the apple pie (which is really more like apple cake). Overall it was a great time and I’m grateful [my host family] let me join them on their family weekend away.
