What were you grateful for this week?
This week I was so grateful for phones! Leaving friends and family was hard so I am glad I was able to talk to them!

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
The most challenging thing has been trying to adjust to living in a stranger’s home and worrying whether or not I am doing things that are culturally normal!

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
My host mom asked for some help going over a speech in English and I helped her out with a couple!

Tell us about your week!
This week was really crazy, really amazing, and really hard! My flight was delayed after I had already been dropped off at the airport and my flight had to be rebooked to so made it to Rome later than I expected. I rested a good amount this week trying to catch up on sleep from the time difference and the traveling. The first day I went out, I wandered around the neighborhood I live in. I wanted to get a feel for my neighborhood and see what is around me.

My first attempt at using the bus system I tried to go to St. Peter’s Basilica to meet up with another Rome Abroad Traveler, but that is sure not where I ended up, oops haha. I ended up walking around Piazza Venezia and it was amazing! I tried my first authentic Italian gelato, ate some pizza and did some exploring. The next day I went and saw the Trevi Fountain and it was as amazing and as crowded as I imagined! I spent the rest of the day shopping and got some McDonald’s so I could have a taste of home 😉

This week was hard and weird trying to adjust to my new life and trying to communicate with people who don’t speak the same language as I do, but it was also amazing to not just be in Italy, but to LIVE in Italy! I can’t wait to see what else I will get to do and sEe!
