Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
The youngest of the two children has a hard time sitting down for homework (as many children do). He’s had overdue assignments for his English lesson and did not want to complete them. My host mother specifically asked if I could help him out with it. So somehow I managed to turn the assignment into a game making it seem as if we weren’t doing homework. Eventually he found out but we still got a lot completed.
Tell us about your week!
This week was full of exploration, connections, and beautiful art history. Visiting the Colesseum, Pantheon, Vatican mueseums and Sistine chapel. It’s amazing how accessible this beautiful history is.
Meeting up with friends on a rainy day, we were able to witness rain fall through the oracle at the Pantheon. The sight was absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite sites of this week.
There have been many benefits (aside from that moment) of the constant rain. The amount of rain nourishes the lush greenery that creeps through the cracks and walls of this city. It’s nice to be in touch with nature whilst also enjoying the beautifully colored brick buildings.
Other than exploring what this city has to offer, I’ve also gotten into the groove of my responsibilities of caring for the children. I feel as if they help me out way more than I help them! I am so thankful for their patience and cooperation. They’ve had many au pairs and are very used to the system. The only thing that is upsetting is knowing eventually we’ll have to part ways. But I am very grateful to be entrusted to guide them throughout the day.
