What were you grateful for this week?
My dearest traveling buddy, S.

What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Navigating foreign cities on public transit…wow.

Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I’ve been online researching english lessons from America so that I may better teach my kiddos!

Tell us about your week!
Sid and I were able to travel to southern Italy this weekend, and boy was that a trip. We travelled across the entire Amalfi coast in every direction, sometimes because that was the plan, and sometimes because we were lost (lol). We made the best of our situation in every city and we figured out how to use public transit throughout the country.

I feel like my Italian is getting better, specifically my pronunciation. The hardest part about being in a small city is there aren’t many people who speak English. I’m doing my best to learn the basics so I don’t have to rely on others to translate for me.

While I was flying back into Milan from Naples today, I realized that I was grateful to be coming back to Gallarate because it feels the most like home here in Italy. I have decided to come up with a firm budget throughout the weekdays so that when I am able to travel on the weekend, I am allowed to spend the money I think I may need.

For now, it feels good to be “home” in my impermanent home and I am excited to be able to get into the groove of things and finalize a weekly schedule with my host family. So far this week, I am most looking forward to doing my laundry for the first time (yay for clean clothes!)
