What were you grateful for this week? Cuddles from [the host family’s daughter].
What was the most difficult or challenging part of this week?
Trying to get the son to do his homework, he is very good at trying to distract me so I forget what we are doing.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
The mother was running late and had a meeting later on so I cooked the family dinner, cleaned and put the children to bed.
Tell us about your week!
I’m starting to understand a bit more Italian and can get by at restaurants or other places without needing an English speaking local around as much! Can’t really speak it yet though. The week went by really fast, I helped more this week with cooking and cleaning and being with the kids in general. Having been a bit busier I think it made the week fly by.
My Australian au pair friend who lives near me, and I, have decided to go on bike rides every morning! We want to get some exercise cause we don’t get much so we have made the commitment to meet every morning in the town center. If we have each other waiting we can’t make excuses to opt out! Though we always compensate it by getting a coffee and pastry after of course..
The days have been more productive because of this decision. Today we even went to the park, had a picnic, and did some acro yoga!! I’ve never done it before and ended up loving it, excited to carry on with it.
This weekend we didn’t get to go see anywhere new, just went out in MIlano and made some Italian friends. They were hospitable and drove us around and took us to different clubs. Had apperitivo a couples times as well. It was a calm nice weekend but am looking forward to getting to travel more of Italy in the weekends to come.
