Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
The kids usually get to watch a Tv show before bed. One night my host dad and I convinced them to watch a show in English and now every night they put on and English show without us saying anything.
Tell us about your week!
This was the first week of school for the kids. It was so interesting to see how different school in America is compared to school her in Italy. The older two boys are both playing basketball which I think is so fun. I’ve played since I was 5 and I played a year in college so we went through the pictures of me playing over the years and they thought that was so fun.
Over the weekend I went to visit S2 in Rome. WOW. Such an amazing and beautiful city. We managed to squeeze almost all of the main attractions in one day. We visited the Trevi Fountain. I threw a penny in but I was so excited to be there I forgot to make a wish. They say if you throw it with your right hand over your shoulder you’re guaranteed to go back, which I did, so I’ll just make a wish next time.
We found the cutest and yummiest gelato shop. There was literally chocolate running down the walls, it smelled so good!!
We also found the COOLEST disco dance club I’ve ever been to (with the cutest italian boys). While we were there S2 and I became friends with the sweetest local and she followed us around the whole night.
I’m starting to learn how to be a tourist without looking like a tourist. It helps keep the vendors away and I just feel really cool when I act like i’m a local. I learned how to order coffee I actually like from the cafe’s. I didn’t know there were so many different kinds of ways to get an espresso. It’s crazy.
So far I’m loving Italy and I don’t ever want to leave.
