What were you grateful for this week?
Pizza.
What was the most challenging part of this week?
I can’t say that I faced any challenges this week other than me and V (host child) trying to fix the tv.
Tell us about a “wow” moment you had this week.
I love when I am asked to stay with the kids on a Friday night. We get to watch a movie and just relax without the rush of their busy schedules.
Tell us about your week!
This week went by as usual! Thursday I was able to attend a Futbol tournament that G’s school put together. It was in northern Rome and we drove out there with the mother of G’s classmate. It was a nice drive and offered some new views. She and her family are from Spain, so I had an easier time speaking to her with the little bit of Spanish I knew. It was a nice time and refreshing change of routine.
The weekend proceeded with a trip to Naples and Pompeii. In these moments I’m so thankful to have met other travelers to experience these cities with. It definitely makes for a memorable experience.
Shortly after arrival we set out for some pizza. I was very surprised about the large population in Napoli. I had read that it’s the 3rd largest city in Italy but for some reason I had a completely different idea of how it’d be. We found a pizza spot recommend on a travel blog. We waited outside for a good 45 minutes and it was well worth it! Eating pizza in Naples is now checked off my list!
The following day we headed out to Pompeii. The other girls thought it’d be a good idea to download an audio guide before we got there and it really helped navigate us around! Pompeii was an amazing experience. The shrubbery growing on the once lively town is symbolic of the continuation of life. The remains of of their society reveal to us that we are not so different from them.
